It is believed to be the only audio record of the press conference Lennon and Paul McCartney gave between the first and second show of their 1966 appearance at Maple Leaf Gardens in Toronto.
Bonham & Butterfields estimates the tape will sell for $20,000 to $25,000 US.
The press conference at the King Edward Hotel focused on a then recent remark Lennon had made that the Beatles "were more popular than Jesus." The boast raised a furor from the Vatican and from conservative groups in North America, where the Beatles were touring.
