Sola Scriptura » Christianity - Islam: Two Faiths! Two Worldviews! - One God?:

The big conference is almost here! I am not able to attend, but wanted you to know about it.

Christianity - Islam: Two Faiths! Two Worldviews! - One God?

Date: September 7-8, 2007

Location: Morningstar Christian Fellowship (Formerly Churchill Heights Baptist Church)

7601 Sheppard Avenue East, Scarborough, Ontario

Conference Overview

As I stated last year in Toronto, this conference is intended to address an article written by Tim Perry in Faith Today magazine, August 2006. The basic point of the article was that Muslims and by extension, anyone who worshiped his or her particular deity in reverence and sincerity, was in fact seeking after and paying respect to the God of the Bible. While noting that there are differences between Allah and the Trinity, these differences were not of such a nature that would preclude a sincere Muslim from embracing eternal life. We emphatically disagree!

There are profound differences between Christianity and every other religious movement past or present. Jesus’ message was unmistakably clear when he states, “I am the Way, the Truth and the Life. No one comes to the Father but through me.” It has been the task of the Church in every generation to carry the message of this life changing Gospel to every nation and tribe often times at a horrific cost to the messenger.

This conference is dedicated to help the Church understand the worldview that shapes Islam. Michael Haykin will introduce the conference by exploring Islam’s historical roots and how it has impacted Western civilization. Thabity Anyabwile will dedicate three sessions to explain how Islam is perceived at the popular level and introduce some general principles of how to present the Gospel to Muslims. James White will address some of the major doctrinal differences that distinguish Christianity from Islam.

It is our hope and prayer to equip Christians with some basic tools to share their faith. The divide between Christianity and Islam is not over mere facets of culture or ethics. There are eternal consequences for rejecting Jesus Christ and our earnest desire is that all who come under Christ’s ministry would embrace the Risen King as Lord and Saviour.

Please pray for us in the days ahead and for all those who attend that the Holy Spirit of God would use this weekend for the Father’s glory and exalt the Risen Jesus. Please feel free to contact the office for additional brochures for your congregation. We would also appreciate any announcements you could make in your congregation’s Sunday bulletins.

Soli Deo Gloria

  1. I wanted to attend this one as well, but that Saturday I have a meeting all day to examine men training for pastoral ministry in the denomination I am part of. I would be tempted to skip that meeting for this, but as the chair, I can't do that. ;)
