"Mats Sundin scored twice and added an assist as the Toronto Maple Leafs dealt the Buffalo Sabres their first regulation-time loss of the season, a 4-1 pounding Saturday night in Buffalo."
We were out with the youth group tonight without access to the score of the Leaf / Sabre game. I had the pleasure of phoning Mr. Brooker on two occasions and hearing his depressed mutterings. Rather satisfying.
Perhaps Darrin will 'fess up to the little wager he made with his boss... I just wish I was there to see it.
I have to deliver his breakfast for the week! No monetary loss; just the humiliation. Honestly, there are more solar eclipses than Leaf victories over the Sabres...just remember....7 more games this year boys, your time will come!
I understand the giddiness that comes with knocking off the first place team in the NHL and I'm glad you can have these little moments of joy that in Toronto will inevitably turn out to be just another in a long line of disappointments. I honestly didn't think the Sabres would go 81-0-1 this season; there would certainly be a few speed bumps on the road to glory; the Leafs just happen to be the first pothole. 7 more games gentlemen...this thread will continue.
NB: Despite the scheduling collusion against Buffalo having to play the following day at 5pm, everything is back to normal with just another win.
Hmmm. Does beating the Rangers actually count as a whole win? And anyway, where would Buffalo be without OT and girly-man shootouts? Like 3-5-42? They are only half the team you dream they are DR!
[Kablam! Was that another Sabre into the boards I hear?]
Whoa. That's just weird.
ReplyDeleteMy Oilers are losing and the Leafs beat Buffalo. This is some kind of justice for that nasty Hockey News Cover last week.
We were robbed by two bad calls last night, but still!
Terry
I don't know Terry... I can't see anything weird about this at all!

ReplyDelete"Let not him who straps on his armour boast himself like he who takes it off!"
ReplyDeleteMay your Syrian herd suffer endless defeat!
I NEVER thought the leafs would win in Buffalo again!
ReplyDeleteThat does it.
I'm sure that this year the cup is theirs.
Long live the BUDS!
Signed,
Seriously deluded!(a leaf fan for life!)
Paul,
