The TEF family retreat is now over and we have left the beautiful Rock Springs for the just-as-beautiful home of the Reimers.
This just in: The Elisha Foundation rocks (as they say).
The purpose of this weekend is to give families who care for a special needs child a break. Justin and Tamara arrange a whole whack of volunteers who come to work. They run a kids program for all the children, organize cool activities and outings and provide full care through the day for the special needs kids. One dad stood at the end to thank the volunteers and with deep sobs said how this was really the first time in three years they had been able to stop 24/7 care of their severely disabled daughter. Every morning two women were there to care for her while mom and dad sat together and sang and listened to the Word.
My time is just getting cut off at the moment, but I cannot stress how valuable these retreats are and what an impact they are having. If you have some money to give away, send it to The Elisha Foundation today. They need it as there is lots more that needs to be done!
