Toronto Glories in Sin

CTV Toronto - Pride Toronto's secret for success - CTV News, Shows and Sports -- Canadian Television:

This is Gay Pride Week in Toronto. It used to be just a parade...

Men will dress like Barbies and women will expose themselves so that the rest of us can learn to accept their normal behaviour. In the news piece I link to here, I read this new description... "... the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transsexual, Transgender, Intersex, Queer/Questioning, 2 Spirited (LGBTTIQ2S) community..."

Why not just call themselves the OAC (Overdone Acronym Committee)?!

We move closer to Corinth every year. That is why I am so glad I am here with the Gospel of Jesus Christ that says sexual perversion of any acronym is sin. And those who sin in this way (like the moralist who sins in his way) need to repent and believe on Jesus Christ. Once they do that, they will be justified forever and revel in the Apostle Paul's words, "such were some of you!"

Until then, sinners sin. They glory in their sin. And we Christians are given the great privilege to point them to the only One who can set them free from their bondage to iniquity. What a joy!

Do pray for my city, won't you?

  1. I'll pray for your city - seeing how I live in it myself - two shootings last week within 100 metres of our church building. The text that keeps coming to mind is "if the salt loses its savour..." O Lord, keep us salty.

I like your analogy to Corinth - because Paul stayed there and many came to faith. I care little about gay marriage laws and official sanction of immoral things. The early church had no support from its legal authorities. The church does not need legal backup to influence the culture for Christ. It just needs to be smitten with Christ and walk worthy of its calling, giving the Gospel no matter the consequences and living consistently in line with that wonderful truth.

Let's go worship tomorrow and pray for those who "gaily" strut about when what is vile is honoured among men. (Psalm12:8)

  2. Kenny -
I am so glad you are where you are, so glad you faithfully preach His Word and even more glad that the Lord is with you.
"Smitten with Christ..." That is what we need most of all as His preachers, isn't it? One cannot help but speak of Jesus when all you can think about is Jesus!
Praying God works His mighty grace through us to His glory today!!

  3. All sin is sin, but I think it's the parades and "pride" weeks etc, that make homosexuality seem worse than say, lying. It's the audacity that makes us want to name it as one of the top sins, as though others are less offensive to God.

I'll join with you in prayer for Toronto, Minneapolis and the rest of the world, till we ALL revel in the words, "such were some of you"!

I grapple with how being salt and light in this sin-sick world is tied to our active participation in the issues of our day, eg. same-sex marriage, pro-life organizations etc... Certainly the gospel is the only hope we/they have, but I don't believe it's an either/or situation. I'd love to see some discussion on our role within society in these matters.
