Faithful Evangelism

“If we labour to the end of our days without seeing one convert, it shall not be worse for us in time, and our reward is the same in eternity.”

- Henry Martyn, Missionary to India and Turkey. Martyn would die with few converts, but a faithful life of evangelism and the translation of the Scriptures. That translation of the Word would be used of God in the conversion of many!

Quoted from "Five Pioneer Missionaries." An excellent book published by the Banner of Truth.

PRESUPPOSITIONS - A Quote from Graeme Goldsworthy

"Presuppositions, then, are the assumptions we make in order to be able to hold some fact to be true. We cannot go on indefinitely saying, “1 know this is true because...” In the end we must come to that which we accept as the final authority. By definition a final authority cannot be proven as an authority on the basis of some higher authority. The highest authority must be self-attesting. Only God is such an authority."

- Graeme Goldsworthy, According to Plan, 44.

Scougal on "The Worth and Excellency of a Soul"

“The worth and excellency of a soul is to be measured by the object of its love. He who loveth mean and sordid things doth thereby become base and vile, but a noble and well-placed affection doth advance and improve the spirit into a conformity with the perfections which it loves.”

- Henry Scougal in The Life of God in the Soul of Man
