Discerning Reader
My friend Tim Challies made a worldwide splash today with the lauch of the !!NEW!! Discerning Reader! This is a great idea and a fantastic looking site! (About the old "New DR" read here... a sad story.)
The whole premise of the site is to act as a focal point of book reviews found on the web. Now you can link to these with just one click and get Tim's and the DR's Editorial Board's view on specific Christian literature. I wish there had been something like this when I was younger! You know, Spurgeon published a whole book on comments on commentaries (a book worth owning!) and this is the same kind of thing. (No. I am not suggesting Tim is Spurgeon!)
I hope this site is wildly successful!
This very sweet...that man knows how to make a mean site.
ReplyDeletevery cool indeed! I cant wait for the expert reviews. It is a wonderful resource. It looks great too, very user friendly, great job Tim. :-)
ReplyDeleteDavid
C'mon Paul... "my friend Tim Challies"?
ReplyDeleteHe had to come up with a pet name for you ("tall Paul", which even JT has picked up on, btw... how cute), then you should have something sweeter than "my friend" for him! :)
What about "challeez" from Kerux's 'examining emergent conversation' post. Or is that a spelling error? :-) I like 'Tall Paul' it rolls off the tongue nicely! Ill have to use the ol' bean to come up with a name for jlf81....any suggestions?
ReplyDeletelol, hey, weren't we making fun of Paul here? How'd it get turned around on me? :)
ReplyDeletejlf81,
ReplyDeleteMaking fun? Iron making fun of Iron?? That never happens, we're Christians remember :-) I thought 'nick names' are terms of affection(and I use that term in the most manly, brotherly, apostle Paulesque way possible :-) Im a man, and Im wild at heart! NOT Im a sinner at heart...Sorry Mr. Eldredge but your wrong...umm what was the question again? :-) Where's tall Paul, Id like him to respond :-) I think I got it finally back on topic jlf81...I love you both,
David
