He cares so much about them that we are called to cast all of OUR cares on Him... once we have humbled ourselves under His mighty hand. But that very acting of "throwing" our cares on God, combined with not being anxious since "each day has enough trouble of its own" proves my point, I think. There are much bigger, grander, more noble things to pray about than who wins the next election.Paulhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13529451903923820189noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11006198.post-10711412302707933442007-09-03T21:42:00.000-04:002007-09-03T21:42:00.000-04:00It seems to me odd that although we are called to ...It seems to me odd that although we are called to pray at all times, we are not, apparently, called to pray about all things. It also seems some combination of arrogant or foolish to me that the Lord Who Made The Details wouldn't care about the details. As if there was some limit to His love for us, that our details would not matter to Him. That is not a God who I could truly and fully love, who does not truly and fully love me.

PS: I'm with you on the gossip-rag praying, though.Hidden Onehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06042188431683942338noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11006198.post-25489661436981332352007-08-31T18:32:00.000-04:002007-08-31T18:32:00.000-04:00Hey Kerux,It would be okay with me if, at the end ...Hey Kerux,
It would be okay with me if, at the end of each such prayer you offer up for yourself and those around you, you would add, "And derifter too."

Thanks.DErifterhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00812393033282381213noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11006198.post-5120313884957810922007-08-31T12:12:00.000-04:002007-08-31T12:12:00.000-04:00This is very helpful. It goes along with my suspicions that much of what is raised as a 'prayer request' is disguised gossip and many 'praises' are really boasting.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11006198.post-14568910147048094562007-08-31T10:33:00.000-04:002007-08-31T10:33:00.000-04:00Compare also Paul's prayers for the Ephesians (1:1...Compare also Paul's prayers for the Ephesians (1:15-19)and the Philippians (1:9-11) and even the Thessalonians (II Thess. 1:11) Remarkable.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11006198.post-18013019928344261452007-08-31T09:53:00.000-04:002007-08-31T09:53:00.000-04:00A tremendously helpful post -- thank you!David Rei...A tremendously helpful post -- thank you!

David ReimerDavid Reimerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17886492671751634816noreply@blogger.com
